Located approximately 120km from Johannesburg is Foothold, a property in Magaliesberg owned by the Johannesburg Hiking Club.

Nestled in trees at the base of the mountain range, Foothold offers amazing hikes and trails, stunning scenery, bird watching and accommodation on site.

Trail options to the Magaliesberg escarpment include Chain Ladder and Footloose Gully but there are also paths closer to the base for less strenuous hiking and nature walks.

Accommodation includes a fully-kitted, rustic house called Hikers Haven that sleeps up to 10 people plus camp sites with braai areas, kitchen nooks and ablution facilities.
