ABOUT US
Since 1931, the Johannesburg Hiking Club has welcomed people from all walks of life who love this beautiful country and want to preserve its natural wonders.
Members get to enjoy the fun and adventure of hiking our awesome mountains, and discovering and exploring new and fantastic places. We offer Wednesday and Sunday hikes, along with adventure hikes, base camp and backpacking weekends. And since we have our very own camp site - called Foothold - we also offer monthly camps for members where you can socialize and hike the Magaliesberg's best trail.
So if you're looking for a hiking family, you want to get fit, or simply want to escape the stress of the city, then the Johannesburg Hiking Club is for you.
We are the premier hiking club in South Africa, after all.
Our Members
Our members come from all walks of life, and range from the very young to the old but bold. It never happens that you get all of them in one place at one time because some hike only on Wednesday, others only on Sundays, and some only do our away hikes.
